- The Paris Dining Experience (for six personnes at Chez Sanders) -- PER SEAT BIDDING
-
Nothing so crass and overrated as Maxim’s, La Tour d’Argent, Taillevent or Alain Ducasse. Non, non, non, non! This is pure elegance! This is a long, leisurely evening in which you can explore the way the Parisians perfect the art of dining and realize their ecstatic appreciation for La Grande Cuisine. The menu will of course vary with the season (depending on what’s fresh, on the availability of fresh truffles, … etc) and can be tailored to your tastes. But you can expect to start with an aperitif and an amuse-bouche (a little amusement to tease the palate) followed by an hors d’oeuvre (to arouse the appetite until it’s whimpering with pleasure), then a light soup course to heighten the appetite even further, so that it can find its release in the entrče (also known as la premier plat or “the first course”), followed by and culminating in the main course (the pinnacle of this sensual journey). But we cannot end the meal there with your senses dangling from such a high precipice. Non, non, non, non! We must descend from these heights slowly and carefully. The main course is sometimes followed by a simple green salad to prepare you for the mandatory cheese course (a lovely excuse to drink another wine), and then a light playful dessert, which is followed (never accompanied) by coffee and some little sweet to help it along (I like to think of it as dessert of dessert). And of course (of course, of course), messieurs et mesdames, there will be several wines chosen to match perfectly with each course. Vive la France! This is the way to experience the finest dining! This is the way to live the elegant sensual life for one beautiful evening! Perhaps that is why Chez Sanders was awarded an unprecedented ten stars by a well-known local restaurant critic! And all of this can be yours for the winning bid!
(We’ve provided a sample menu from a previous evening at Chez Sanders to give you an idea of the gastronomic glories that await you, but of course, your Paris Dining Experience will be tailored to suit your own personal preferences.) ESTIMATED VALUE IS PER SEAT
Donated by John & Susan Sanders.
- Block Printmaking Workshop for Four
-
Let out the artist in you! Even if you think you can’t draw, you can create eye-catching note cards, designs for clothing or tote bags, and even art for framing! In this workshop (approximately 4 hours in length), you will learn about some basic materials; techniques for selecting your design image; transferring that design to a block; cutting the block; inking the block using non-toxic, water based inks; printing the image without using a press; and ways to present and preserve block prints. You’ll come away with your very own prints! All materials will be provided along with instruction sheets and a supply resource list to use in the future (for when you become hooked on block printing). You choose the day or evening. Bring along 3 friends and ideas to use. I’ll provide a LARGE table for everyone to work on and some beverages for your refreshment. Let’s have fun!

Challenge your trivia skills with other M*A*S*H enthusiasts by raising your paddle and bidding on this item. “The M*A*S*H Trivia Challenge” game will be played during intermission. The top eight (or so) highest bidders will divide themselves into two teams and test their wits about little-known facts from the movie and television series.

- Prime Rib Dinner for Four
-
Imagine a 7-pound boneless prime rib slowly turning on an open rotisserie. The delightful smell envelops you as you enter the house to the aroma of beef and just the right mixture of seasonings. Share a glass or two of wine as the appetizer is served. Then enjoy garlic mash potatoes, a seasonal veggie or two, warm bread with dipping sauce and the centerpiece of the evening – the prime rib, cooked to your exact specification (except well done – My Midwestern sensibilities won’t allow me to do that the a good cut of meat). The prime rib is served au jus with a side dip of horseradish sauce. Top the evening off with desert and maybe some cognac and conversation by the fire – the gentlemen may retire to the back deck for BYO cigars but I am afraid that I will not be joining you. And you get to take home the left over beef for a few sandwiches or a late night snack later in the week.
Donated by John Burkitt.

My sister from Illinois (who uses me as system support via long distance phone) suggested that I offer this. If I can get a wifi system going from a thousand miles away, I should be able to help you.
